WSQ ESS Workplace Safety & Health – Operations (ES-WSH-101G-1) 2-days Comprehensive

Overview

The workplace safety & health competencies covered in this course are necessary to fulfill legal requirements under the Workplace Safety & Health Act 2006 and Subsidiary Legislations. Upon successful completion and assessment, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) certificate by WDA (Workforce Development Agency) under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Frameworks.

Objectives

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of both the worker and the Workplace Safety and Health Committee stipulated under the Workplace Safety and Health Act
  • Follow workplace procedures for risk control and emergencies accurately
  • Identify typical unsafe work conditions and unsafe work practices

Target Audience

Operations staff who work under direction to perform a specific set of work activities. Many supervisors also find this module useful. This module does not assume any prior knowledge or skills or experience associated with workplace safety & health.

Methodology

The course will be highly interactive, with group discussions, exercises, videos and case studies. Participants will learn about observing defined workplace safety and health policies and procedures, and acquire competencies necessary to work safely at the workplace. Final assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.

Course Outline

Follow safe work practices and risk control procedures

  • Practice personal hygiene at the workplace in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Use and maintain personal protective equipment required for the work in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Use and maintain workplace equipment and safety devices in accordance with organizational procedures or manufacturer’s instructions
  • Follow safety signs and instructions in the workplace
  • Follow workplace risk control measures in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Report workplace safety and health issues to appropriate persons in accordance with the organizational procedures and Workplace Safety and Health Act
Participate in workplace safety and health management activities

  • Identify and report potential hazards and risks associated within the work area in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Report unsafe working conditions and work practices in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Participate in resolving hazards and risks identified in the work area in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Participate in identifying personal protective equipment requirements for the work in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Participate in identifying safety device required for safe operations of machinery and equipment if any at the workplace
  • Participate in identifying information needed to handle workplace emergencies
  • Participate in workplace safety and health training
Follow workplace emergency response procedures

  • React to the types of emergencies at the workplace
  • Use equipment and materials required for workplace emergency response in accordance with the organizational procedures
  • Activate emergency services in the event of emergency at the workplace in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory requirements
  • Follow the instructions given by authorized personnel in the event of emergency at the workplace
  • Participate in the organizational emergency response exercise in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory requirements
  • Follow infectious disease outbreak control at the workplace in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory bodies

Course fees

Fee per person (payable to Bond International Consultants Pte Ltd):

  • S$ 198 before SDF and SRP grants)

Funding(eligibility criteria apply):
  • SDF (Skills Development Fund)

    90% of course fees, capped at $11/hour for workers above 40 years old, and A levels and below, whichever is lower;
    *$198-$176 = $22 nett/ person (after SDF grant).

    80% of course fees, capped at $7/hour, for workers below 40 years old;
    *$198-$112 = $86 nett/ person (after SDF grant).

  • SRP (SPUR) Absentee Payroll Available

    For workers aged 40 years & above, with ‘A’ level qualifications & below, 90% of hourly basic salary capped at $4.50/hour, whichever is lower. For other workers, 80% of hourly basic salary capped at $4.00/hour, whichever is lower.

To enjoy SDF and SRP funding, participants need to fulfill the following 4 requirments:

1. Training is fully sponsored by companies registered/incorporated in Singapore

2. Employees who are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR)

3. Attain at least 75% attendance

4. Undertake all assessments in the course
